Stars Youth Refuge depicts a bright future in the darkness. A place of guidance and direction, offering a visual representation of aiming for the stars.

A twinkling light on its own is hard to see, but in connection with many stars we can draw light and ponder over the beauty of the how many working together creates a compass for life.

As a commitment to providing a professional and ethical service Stars Youth Refuge Inc. is registered with the Australian Charity and Non-Profits Commission (ACNC)

Stars Youth Refuge is committed to providing a culturally acceptable homelessness service for female youth, specialising in services for those from Arabic, Sub-Continent and Islamic faith. Our service is based on upholding ethical, cultural, and sustainable resources to provide optimal care and service outcomes for females under 25 years years.

Vulnerability is a major concern for youth due to multiple dynamics that hinder our youth from seeking safe refuge. Stars Youth Refuge recognises many youth from CALD backgrounds are vulnerable due to limited culturally aware services. Therefore, many are forced to sleep in unsafe environments and either “couch surf” or find themselves at risk of predators in exchange for refuge.

Stars Youth Refuge aims to be an equipped responsive youth homelessness service within the target group of CALD person's community.  This is achieved by providing a reputable and culturally aware service. Stars Youth Refuge aims to employ bilingual staff who can communicate with residents and their families in their spoken language. We understand that to engage with our youth we need to meet them where they are; to provide support and understanding from the lens in which they see the world. By employing multicultural staff, we believe this is the way forward for our youth to remain connected and nurtured in their community.

The foundation is based on an ethical and quality framework using a person-centred approach to client issues. Stars Youth Refuge adheres to state and federal child protection laws whilst working with local non-governmental and governmental agencies. Networking within the local communities allows Stars Youth Refuge the advantage of understanding issues that are core to providing a safe yet collaborative service.

We value ourselves in upholding a culturally sensitive service with a high reputation in the wider community and within family structures.  Family values are important in the Islamic faith and align with the values of Stars Youth Refuge. We recognise and understand the cultural needs that surround families facing struggles and sensitive issues. Working with youth struggling with issues that may be culturally “taboo” or not talked about is a strength of Stars Youth Refuge. We aim to provide a judgement-free and highly confidential service where our youth are supported in expressing themselves and issues which rendered them homeless or unsafe.

Stars Youth Refuge is more than just a place to to seek help, we are a place which walks beside those we help. We engage with our youth to aim for a better future. We build a new picture together, with education and goal setting as the backdrop.  Equipping our youth with the right tools and skills to work towards an independent life.
